On May 28, 1996 our
first Dual Champion from our first litter was born. On the
day he completed his JC we bumped him up to Open and that day
he won a 5 point major. What a thrill! Bert continues to
enjoy coursing practice days and has learned to cheat quite
well, making certain he always reaches the bunnies first. We
save the last run for him so he can rip all the bunnies off
the line. Bert thought the show ring was one of the biggest
wastes of time any dignified dog could spend. Next to the day
he completed his AKC Field Championship, his winning the Lure
Coursing dog class at the 2002 National was our biggest
thrill. Bert was handled to his Championship by co-breeder
Connie Alexander. You can tell by the look on his face that
he was really mad we made his show this day!
Bert passed away on January 13, 2010
BERT
He runs like the wind
Tearing up the grass
Leaving them in his wake
Not a soul may pass
He comes around the corner
Burning with desire
Hot after the lure
As all watch and admire
Over the ridge
Not missing a stride
My heart flutters
And swells with pride
As he crosses the
finish
Not a soul is near
He takes the lure
He's a winner, that's clear
